High quality and a lot of advantages
The quality par excellence of wood as a building and decorating material is its naturalness, which does not simply refer to its organic origin but to an interesting medley of characteristics.
It is well-known that the human body emits and is at the same time enveloped by radiation coming from the most varied of sources: cosmic, electrical fields, radioactivity, magnetism. External radiation, in conflict with human psycho-corporeal equilibrium, is often generated by synthetic materials. Wood, on the contrary, conforms marvellously with the prerequisites of an ideal habitat: it neither becomes electrostatic nor does it emit harmful radiation. As it is a poor heat conductor, wood is ideal under any temperature conditions (parquet-flooring is warm in winter and cool in summer), while its sound-insulating properties means it deadens indoor and outdoor noises, there - by creating pleasantly silent environments. Lastly, its elasticity - a great asset for sports structures - provides a comfortable surface under the feet. The naturalness of wood therefore implies healthy, pleasant and relaxing environments enhanced by soft, warm colours. The qualities of parquet-flooring also include greater hardness and resistance to wear than floors made in other materials. These features make it extremely suitable for well-frequented public places (such as museums, art galleries, theatres), while in the home they guarantee a long life. Furthermore, a wooden floor is highly practical. If old parquet-flooring needs to be brought back to its original conditions, all that needs to be done is a simple planing of the surface. Even though the flexibility of wood permits considerable loads, it may break and in that case repair work is easy and involves just simply replacing the damaged piece, without having to break up and re-lay the entire floor. Cleaning and maintenance are practical and easy. The resistance of suitably treated wood to atmopheric agents and changeable weather conditions also encourages its use outdoors, as marine and naval tradition has proclaimed since time began.
