Until the first half of this century, wooden floors consisted of planking and boards of various shapes and sizes, nailed onto supporting laths. Subsequently installation using adhesives was introduced and has by now become the most widespread laying technique, since it offers a hitherto impossible quickness in laying. More recently there has been a real revolution in the type elements making up parquet-flooring, with the creation of "pre-finished pieces". The new modules, sanded and polished/varnished in the factory, require no finishing work when being laid, unlike traditional floors. They are mostly, however, supported products which have a thin layer of real wood veneer over a base consisting of other poorer materials. Premass, produced by ALI, was the first pre-finished piece made with solid wood - i.e. real wood all the way through - to be put on the Italian market. It has a thickness of ten millimetres, five being above the tongue or groove. Indeed, Premass lasts much longer and may be sanded whenever necessary. The tonguing and grooving to be found on all elements, both on the long and the short sides, ensures perfect joining up of the strips and consequently workmanlike flatness of the finished surface. Absolute precision of working of the modules, high-definition finishes refined in ALI laboratories with the help of avant-garde technology, the quality and beauty of the woods employed, all contribute to giving Premass parquet-flooring an exceptional technical performance and aesthetic value. The Premass line also incorporates the Premass Color, Premass Intarsi, Premass Cornici and Premass Linear versions.

Finishes
Premass parquets are available in three different finishes:

Vernice, classic, semi-polished effect, which brings out the reflections of light and provides higher levels of resistance guaranteed by ALI technology and quality.


Hard, with an exclusive formula and satin-finish effect, offers extremely high resistance to marking and is non-slip, which makes it suitable for highly-frequented places.


Calibro, with a natural effect achieved solely by the precision working of the strips. Particularly recommended for environments observing the principles of bio-architecture.
