Preservation
of the parquet in suitable environments and with correct maintenance
An ALI parquet, whether traditional Mass or pre-finished Premass and
Superpremass, requires little maintenance, given the quality of the
woods used in producing the elements and the seasoning they undergo.
Just a few simple rules therefore need to be observed in order to
prevent movements or the surface from being damaged.
1. Store the wood in bundles in suitable
environmental conditions at a temperature of (15÷25) °C
and humidity of (45÷60)%, to prevent any change in
dimensions of the wood. The above hygrothermal values correspond
perfectly to those for the physiological well-being of man,
usually considered correct with a temperature of 20 °C and
relative humidity of 50%.
2. Be careful not to concentrate an
excessive load on small surface areas. Stress due to impact, the
falling of objects and the application of heavy concentrated loads
(chairs mounted on castors, stepladders, etc.) should be
avoided.
3. Avoid placing carpets or other
similar covering materials on the parquet-flooring - at least at
the beginning - otherwise the covered areas will remain a
different colour than the rest of the floor. This reaction is
caused by a normal process of colour change in the wood due
mainly to the effect of the light: this reaction is more
noticeable in the tropical woods.
4. Clean the parquet by passing a
damp cloth over it, without letting it get excessively wet, and
using neutral detergents if necessary. Special polishes may be
used to bring back the shine to the varnish.
5. On Premass with a Hard finish, it
is recommended not to use waxes or impregnating substances
(fillers) which penetrate into the porosity of the varnish, making
cleaning extremely laborious.
